Beyoncé to Be Honored With Billboard Millennium Award
After a decade of dominance in music, Billboard is giving Beyoncé her just due. The international pop star, who's already received nine Billboard Awards as a member of Destiny’s Child, will be presented with the Billboard Millennium Award, which presumably trumps the traditional Billboard Century Award—the recently revived awards show’s highest honor for creative achievement.
According to Hip Hop DX, the ceremony will take place May 22 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena and will feature performances by Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Rihanna and Black Eyed Peas.
Bey took a brief sabbatical from music following the release of I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008) and the end of the I Am tour in February 2010, and has been in the studio gearing up for the release of still untitled fourth solo album. The first single off the project, “Run the World (Girls),” was released last week.
